‘Back Manufacturing’ in Chancellor’s Budget, says ASG Group

As the Chancellor prepares to deliver today's budget, it's important to highlight why the UK economy needs to prioritise manufacturing in order to thrive in the post-pandemic world. The aerospace industry, which is a significant contributor to the UK economy, is no exception.

ASG Group, a major aerospace manufacturer over seven global sites and more than 150 CNC machine tools recognises the importance of a strong manufacturing sector for the UK economy. We believe that the government should prioritize investment in the aerospace industry, particularly in the supply chain, in order to boost productivity, create high-skilled jobs, and drive innovation.

The aerospace industry is an essential part of the UK economy, with a turnover of £35 billion and employing over 120,000 people. However, the industry has faced significant challenges in recent years, particularly due to the impact of the pandemic on air travel. The government's support for the industry during this difficult time has been appreciated, but more needs to be done to ensure its long-term sustainability.

In today's budget announcement, UK aerospace suppliers are hoping for measures that will support their recovery and growth. This includes support for research and development, investment in new technologies and infrastructure, and incentives for companies to invest in training and development.

Additionally, we hope that the government will prioritise supply chain resilience, which has been highlighted as a critical issue during the pandemic. This includes measures to support UK-based suppliers, such as tax incentives and grants, as well as measures to mitigate the impact of Brexit on supply chains.

In short, ASG Group believes that the government needs to ensure that the UK economy MAKES THINGS, and that the aerospace industry should be a key part of this strategy. We look forward to hearing the Chancellor's announcements today and hope that they will support the growth and resilience of UK aerospace suppliers.economy #machinetools #milling #machining #training #development #lathe #innovation #manufacturing #people #aerospaceindustry #aerospaceengineering #aerospacemanufacturing #baesystems #airbus
