ASG Arrowsmith flies high with manufacturer of the year award

October has been a good month for ASG Arrowsmith, with aerospace volumes returning, new work agreed and a successful appearance at Insider Media’s ‘Made in the Midlands’ Awards last week.

It was great to be at a big event again that was celebrating industry in the region, and it was even better to beat off elite competition from some excellent companies to be named ‘Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m turnover)’.

Judges were impressed by the way we have fought back from the lockdown and pivoted to produce thousands of precisions parts to support the crucial work of the VentilatorChallengeUK Consortium.

They also highlighted our commitment to maintaining customer service and manufacturing performance, whilst exploring new short and long-term export opportunities.

Jason Aldridge, Managing Director of ASG Arrowsmith, was delighted with the Award: “The last twenty months have been extremely tough, none more so than if you are a critical supplier to the aerospace sector, a sector that has been hit harder than most by Covid-19.

“Despite all the pressures, lockdowns and changes to the factory, we have remained operational throughout the pandemic and, for this and many other reasons, the title is for our wonderful workforce.”

He continued: “They have stuck together and come through what has arguably been some of the most demanding economic times we’ve ever seen, helping save lives in the process.

“Collectively and alongside our customers, we never stopped believing and, in the last few months, we have started to see the first green shoots of the aerospace sector returning, with this award coming just a few weeks after we secured a large business jet contract.”

ASG Arrowsmith will now move forward to compete in the Insider Media ‘Made in the UK Awards’, representing the Midlands.

The title comes on the back of our Queen’s Award for International Trade and our Silver SC21 accreditation.
