The manufacturer top 100
ASG are very pleased to announce that Matthew Hughes of ASG Arrowsmith has been included in The Manufacturer Top 100 list in the Young Pioneer category 2022.
This is no less than Matt deserves after 4 years at ASG Arrowsmith.
He joined ASG Arrowsmith via the intern programme with Coventry University (which has been running for the last 8 years). It has been a hugely successful programme and Matthew now becomes the 4th intern to gain full time employment at Arrowsmith after completing the 1 year internship.
Matt showed huge potential during the placement and was offered a position to stay on as Production Supervisor whilst completing his final year of the degree part time – not an easy task!
This he did gaining a 1st in Aeronautical Engineering, whilst holding down a pressurised production position, during a pandemic.
We would note that during Covid, ASG Arrowsmith (including Matthew) and all the other ASG companies did not shut for a single day. ASG Arrowsmith employees were classed as critical workers and made ventilator parts for the first three months. Arrowsmith gained the Queens Award for Export and SC21 Silver for exceptional delivery and Quality results during this period. Standards did not slip!
Matt worked tirelessly during Covid showing huge commitment and tenacity – pretty impressive for a young lad.
Matts success doesn’t stop there. He has since been promoted to Continuous Improvement Manager, a dual aspect role working much of his time in production under his mentor Martin Porter, and the remaining time heading up the CI projects.
He represents Arrowsmith at the new Coventry and Warwickshire Aerospace Forum CI group and has Arrowsmith projects running with the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry.
Matt is also presently interviewing Coventry University students to become the next Arrowsmith intern – to work with him in the CI team.
Finally, Matt is also managing the Arrowsmith 5-a -side team – currently in training for the CWAF 5 – a – side tournament.
As we said, a worthy inclusion in the list.
