ASG Produmax supports UK Local Industrial Decarbonisation

Manufacturing partnership secures six-figure industrial decarbonisation funding

Bradford Manufacturing Futures, a collaborative initiative aimed at spearheading decarbonisation efforts in the local manufacturing sector, has secured a substantial funding injection of £726,729 from Innovate UK, a division of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

The funding, geared towards addressing the pressing challenges of energy costs and decarbonisation within the manufacturing landscape, marks a crucial milestone in Bradford's journey towards a greener, more resilient economy.

Jeremy Ridyard, Managing Director of ASG Produmax, stated the significance of this initiative for Bradford and the broader commitments of the ASG Group towards decarbonisation. "At ASG Produmax we recognise the urgency of decarbonisation efforts within the manufacturing sector. This funding presents a pivotal opportunity for us together with local businesses to collaborate, innovate, and drive sustainable practices forward,"

The collaborative effort, which includes key stakeholders such as Bradford Council, CR Plus Ltd, the University of Bradford, and a consortium of local manufacturers including ASG Produmax, Texfelt Ltd, Teconnex Ltd, Denso Marston Ltd, Solenis UK Industries Ltd, and Calbee Group (UK) Ltd, underscores a concerted commitment to developing best practices and strategic roadmaps for decarbonisation.

Speaking on the broader implications of the project, Ridyard added, "Our involvement in the Bradford Manufacturing Futures initiative aligns seamlessly with the ASG Group's overarching commitment to decarbonisation and sustainability. By pooling resources, expertise, and innovation, we can play our role in catalysing positive change not only within Bradford but also across the wider region."

Central to the initiative is the University of Bradford's creation of a Virtual Zero Carbon Hub, which will serve as a hub for research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. Through visualisations of decarbonised energy integration, business support tools, and impact case studies, the hub aims to empower businesses with the insights and tools necessary to navigate the transition towards a low-carbon future.

Carolyn Escreet, Sustainability Programmes Delivery Manager at Bradford Council, expressed enthusiasm for the project's potential impact. "We are excited to be leading the Bradford Manufacturing Futures partnership on this key Local Decarbonisation project that will contribute to building a sustainable and prosperous economy that works in the interests of everyone to minimise waste and the use of finite natural resources,"

With the support of Innovate UK funding and the collaborative efforts of local stakeholders, Bradford Manufacturing Futures is poised to drive tangible, lasting change in the industrial landscape, setting a precedent for sustainable development and innovation across the region.
